Symbols Versus Shapes

For this lecture’s assignment, we were asked to draw a vase using the negative space between two faces (as per a certain famous optical illusion) and to draw a Picasso. First naturally, then upside down. The idea behind this, as far as I understood, was to get more familiar with seeing and thinking in lines and shapes rather than strictly “symbols” as representations of objects as a whole.
